How to Identify a Market

The design of this blog is to show you how to identify a market. Most people would think that finding a good product comes first. The truth is, finding what is called a "micro-niche" is vital to your success. Finding a micro-niche is not too difficult. The following chart will explain what a micro-niche is.

The Proof is in the Search
To illustrate the point, go to Google.com and search the term "golf" in parenthesis. The reason why you want to use parenthesis is that Google considers these pages as optimized. Pages that are not optimized don't stand a chance of making it to the top page, so they don' t have much to do with our research. you should find about 400 million competing pages, for the term golf. Now, do the same for the micro-niche for golf.

Where to Start Your Search
This thing we net to get is an idea. We can easily browse through the magazine section of Amazon.com. Choose from the category section a subject that catches your interest. Then, if possible, choose a sub-category. Now we are getting close. You might start to notice that Amazon actually breaks every choice you make down to a smaller niche. Keep doing this, until you can't break it down any further. Now we can choose a magazine and try to break it down to it's smallest component.

Analyzing  your Micro-Niche
Go to Google Adwords Keytool  and place your micro-niche in the keyword/phrase box. Leave the synonym box checked. Then enter the caption, and hit get keyword ideas. You should have a chart that looks like this.

The numbers represent the times people search that particular phrase on a monthly basis. We should look for a phrase that has at least 80 hits daily, or 2,400 monthly. The graph represents the trend by which the phrase is searched. If you see, no data or a flat line, this means that there isn't enough traffic flowing to interest us. A graph that holds steady means that the searches are consistent through out the year, which is what we want.

2,400 Hits and Less than 30,000 Pages
Our micro-niche needs to fall into these parameters. This process can take a little while to perfect, so don't feel discouraged if you don't get it right away.  Our goal is to collect 10 micro-niches for the following lesson. This should be fairly simple, and since you will be looking at subjects that interest you,  the process should be fun.

That's it for This Lesson
Our next lesson will involve the use of a tool called Market Samuri. The free applications will determine which of your micro-niches will be used in the following lessons to come.
